Advanced Features
Power-user features for managing complex monitoring setups - maintenance windows, groups, escalation, widgets, and more.
Maintenance Windows
Navigate to Dashboard > Maintenance. Schedule planned maintenance periods so downtime checks are skipped - no false alerts during your deployment.
Creating a Maintenance Window
- 1Click "Create Maintenance Window" on the Maintenance page
- 2Set a name (e.g. "Weekly Deploy Window")
- 3Choose the schedule type: One-time or Recurring (daily/weekly)
- 4Set the start time, end time, and timezone
- 5Select which monitors are affected (exempt from checks during the window)
- 6Save - monitors will be paused automatically during the window
One-Time
For scheduled deployments, database migrations, or planned server reboots. Runs once at the specified date/time.
Recurring
For regular maintenance windows - e.g. every Sunday 2-4 AM. Repeats daily or weekly automatically.
Limits: Pro (20 windows), Business (100), Enterprise (200).
Monitor Groups
Navigate to Dashboard > Groups. Organize your monitors into logical groups for easier management.
Use Cases
- Group by environment: Production, Staging, Development
- Group by service: API Servers, Web Frontends, Databases, CDN
- Group by client: Client A websites, Client B APIs
- Group by region: US East, EU West, Asia Pacific
Group Options
- Name - The group label (e.g. "Production Servers")
- Color - A color tag for visual identification in the dashboard
- Icon - Choose from Lucide icons for quick recognition
- Description - Optional details about the group's purpose
Limits: Pro (20 groups), Business (100), Enterprise (200).
Escalation Policies
Navigate to Dashboard > Escalation. When a monitor goes down and isn't acknowledged, escalation policies automatically alert additional people on a defined schedule.
How Escalation Works
Alert the primary on-call person via Slack + Email. If not resolved within 5 minutes…
Escalate to the team lead via PagerDuty + WhatsApp. If still not resolved…
Alert the engineering manager + CTO via all channels. Repeat until resolved.
Each Escalation Step Configures
- Delay - Minutes to wait before triggering this step
- Notification Channels - Which channels to alert at this step
- Additional Emails - Extra email addresses to CC
- Repeat - How many times to repeat the alert and at what interval
Limits: Pro (5 policies), Business (10), Enterprise (20).
Dashboard Widgets
Navigate to Dashboard > Widgets. Build a custom dashboard with drag-and-drop widgets that show the metrics you care about most.
Uptime Summary
Overall uptime percentage across all monitors with a visual gauge
Latency Chart
Response time chart for a selected monitor with configurable time range
Incident Feed
Live feed of recent incidents with status and timestamp
Status Map
Visual grid showing the UP/DOWN status of all or selected monitors
Monitor List
Compact table of selected monitors with key metrics
SLA Score
Current SLA compliance percentage for a monitor or group
Limits: Pro (10 widgets), Business (100), Enterprise (200).
SSL Certificate Monitoring
SSL monitoring is automatic for every HTTPS monitor - no extra configuration needed. UptimeMonitorX checks the SSL certificate with every health check and tracks its status over time.
SSL Grading System
A
90+ days
B
30-89 days
C
7-29 days
D
< 7 days
F
Expired
- Tracks issuer, valid from/to dates, and days to expiry
- Sends expiry warnings at 14 days, 7 days, and 1 day before expiry
- SSL health visible in the dashboard sidebar under "Domains"
Multi-Region Monitoring
Check your services from multiple geographic locations to ensure they're accessible worldwide, not just from the region where your server is located.
When creating or editing a monitor, select the regions you want to check from. Each region runs independent checks - if your site is down in one region but up in another, you'll know exactly where the problem is.
